Same cpus, will they cost more on AM2?

And if someone were to upgrade to AM2 should they grab their DDR2 now due to prices?

Common sense tells one that AM2 would cost more than 939s because it's newer.

I might as well skip AM2, my comp is good enough now, and only the very high priced cpus will be anywhere close to being quicker.

I would think that DDR2 would come down in price, but initially it could be the opposite as demands will MAYBE be higher than supply.

Chances are that AMD will try to keep retail prices of s939 high so that AM2 parts will move more steadily. At the retail level, it'll have a lot to do with supply/demand as well. If people are dissatisfied with AM2's performance, don't expect s939 to drop in price until Conroe comes out.

We might be better off if we look into how DDR2 works.. double the FSB and double the cas#'s and you have roughly the same speed ram for DDR2 as your DDR..

OCZ (677?) plats case 4 DDR2 would be roughly the same sticks.

sooooooo.. were is this comming from???

And AMD is selling AM2 for a little less then s939 acording to current news, wich has been pointed out already.

AMD needs to move to DDR2 to stay competitive. Intel has already moved their entire lineup over to DDR2, and a lot of manufacturing capability has been changed over to DDR2, leaving less and less for DDR1. Prices on DDR1 will rise, while prices of DDR2 continue to drop.

Thats the DDR2 I'm looking at for my AM2 system, times 2. :p 4-4-4-12 is about the fastest DDR2 module I've seen at those sizes and speeds.

It was a joke firstly, But as far as gaming is concerned I like lower latency instead of higher megahertz even though DDR=DDR2 in most cases. Sorry if i offended you.

Freakin' OUCH! :Q $340 for 2GB of ram? Daaaaamn. I'll be sticking with my "old tech" 4400X2/PC3200 rig for quite some time, methinks.

Actually, Im considering buying AM2 with Conroe coming out... This way if Conroe turns out to be not-so-great then Ill already have my new setup. And if Conroe is great, then I simply sell my cpu and mobo and move to Conroe.

But, with the prices of DDR2 as high as they are, I dunno.... 939 and is capabilities are looking mighty sweet... Well, if I keep debating long enough then Conroe will be here anyways.
