Will AM2 be readily available?

dude ok we get it, by the number of posts your dying to build a new computer, so am I, same boat as you. Now shut up and wait until may 23, then well see what happens.
btw in regards to your other thread, where u wanted to get M2N32 and X1900 XTX, you might want to think that over. with the nforce 590 chipset, if you pair an nvidia card with that you activate linkboost, which basically overclocks the whole system. Also think about getting EPP memory such as the one from corsair to complete the "tritium" array and have completely stacked performance.
Of course if you want an ATI video card, then I would suggest the M2R32. But since it doesnt sound like you want to do the dual gpu thingy, I would suggest M2N32, 7900 GTX, and EPP memory. You could even do dual 7900 GT, but bare in mind what resolution your going to be gaming at. If its high (>1600x1200) 2 GTs is better, if its average (<1280x1024) then 1 GTX is better.
as far as im going, FX-62, M2N32-SLI, 2 7900 GTX SLI, 2GB Corsair XMS2-800 with EPP. That should pretty much be the best you can make without resorting to quad-sli, which I dont want to do. Take my template and resize it to your budget.

On launch day? You'll be lucky to find anyone selling them at much volume. Just like any processor launch, it will take a bit before they are really broadly available.

Are you kidding me...you're an AMD fanboy and you don't even own an AMD system yet. Wait until July, the numbers will speak for themselves and hopefully you'll still be happy with your month old system.
Dude im a gamer and we are talking about cpus...... Hmm those 10fps ill get with Conroe+7900GTX are not a big factor for me. You guys are pro amd until something better comes along. Just wait for K8L.
Most users here are pro best cpu you can get at the current time for least amount of money. We are only trying to be helpful here and current bench marks show that Conroe is 20-40% increase over AMD at same speed.(that is more the 10 FPS in most cases) If you want to wait for K8L the more power to you but if you want the best cpu for cheapest price Conroe is the one to have this year as well as next ½ of 2007.

Almost everything about Conroe is purely speculative though, with many fraud rumors floating around.
I'm in the same boat, just waiting until 23 May to buy all my parts for a new AM2 based A64. Regarding the Asus M2N32 board, how much do you think Linkboost will help out? At present, I've got a Radeon X1900XT and some OCZ DDR2-800 RAM spec'd, but thats all open to change.
I haven't looked at the M9R32 board that much, but I would like to stick with the X1900 class cards, as they perform better in a number of titles that I play frequently. I could save a little money by going with a 7900GT though, not sure if I want to go that route though.

Some stores over here in Belgium, Europe already have them in stock, but they are not to be sold before tuesday. I'm dying along with you since I've been waiting for months now to get a new PC. :s
It's probably well worth the wait until June or thereabouts for the Intel chips. That's when I'll base my decision on which one is the more favorable. Hopefully, at least more realistic comparisons will be made then when it hits the consumers properly.
You won't be able to buy the Conroe till ~Sept...that said, waiting until you see all of the actual reviews after the launch to make your decision is fairly sound reasoning IMHO.
That's when the launch is, but it will take ~2 months to get availability in stores. The launch is when Intel plans on first shipping to OEMs...
Im not trying to start an AMD vs Intel war here. Look AM2 isnt that popular and if they are ahrd to find on launch day I guarantee there is no way in hell you are gonna find a conroe for the first month of launch.
k this is not video cards here... as soon as they are released you will be able to buy them period. the only thing to worry about is paper vs hard launch. usually cpu manufacturers dont do paper launches, they announce their cpus at events like cebit and computex and set a realese date. on that date you will be able to buy the chips from any retailer or etailer. so if am2 is scheduled for the 23rd like everybody said, the very moment they open your local Frys you will be able to take one home. Now if the number 23 is a hoax... then we all cry dont we.

the epp ram is on dailytech go check it out. and its not being shipped until the 23rd. so no you cant buy it now. initially there will be only two 2GB kits, one PC6400 and one PC8500. I would suggest the 800 mhz kit, since it can probably hit 1066 if you losen the timings. plus the 1066 kit will probably have a huge price premium on it.

I might just go with 939 if these ram and mobo prices are higher plus I think the X1900 XTX Toxic is looking pretty sweet.
I guess you missed the whole linkboost thing I said then... if you like the x1900 go for it, but heck get the M2R32 so you can crossfire later at least.
Eh, this linkboost sounds like SLi, more of a gimmick for the enthusiasts of the enthusiasts. Im probably buying a 7900GTX now that ive seen ATi blows at Quake and FEAR.
I think an overclocked hypertransport bus will bring great improvement to the performance of the system. at least it will narrow down the difference between amd and conroe. assuming conroe is what they claim it is. Linkboost will help a lot, and EPP ram will enhance the performance even more by completing the tritium platform, whichi nvidia claims doesnt exist... rofl. thats why they are producing all these things.
