Will additional antenna increases the wireless reception?

Hello guys, I'm new to this forum so, sorry if this sounds noob. ;)

I've a TP-Link single antenna router. I've been using it for about a year and now I had to shift my room further away from the router. And hence the signal I'm getting is very poor and have frequent disconnection.

My current router is 5dBi Fixed Omni Directional single antenna and I was planning to buy a 5dBi with TWO antennas. Which means 2*5dBi Fixed Omni Directional Antenna.

Is it going to increase the wifi reception to my current room? I'm confused if the additional antenna is going to increase the reception or is it going to only increase the stability? Because I obviously wants the first one!

Thanks in advance!

Wireless signal quality depends on the router AND the receiving device. If you have a powerful router but a weak wireless adapter in your computer/tablet/etc. then you still won't have a good signal. So if your computer's adapter is good but the router is weak, then buying a better router (the one you linked is mediocre at best) might help.

Just adding Antenna is like expecting a better car if you add 5th wheel.

That said the current Router is : 11n: Up to 150Mbps(dynamic)

The "Newer" is 11n: Up to 300Mbps(dynamic).

Better Bandwidth better Router.

Never the less, if your Wireless Clients have old cards that can not benefit from the Upgrade, then the upgrade will not help.

If the Wireless clients are away from the Router and there is serious Wireless obstructions it will not help either.

Thank you! My computer and the mobile is pretty new and I believe the adapter is also fine because my old phone doesn't even connect to the network. I will give my new router a try and update the same. :)

Haha that is the best comparison I could guess. Thanks for the info. I'm pretty much happy with the bandwidth. Because my connection is only 30 Mbps, But, because the range is low I'm getting only 3-6 mbps speed. Will the 300 mbps router increases the speed at the same point?

It'll increase it slightly because of MIMO effect, but it won't be a big boost. If you have serious issues now, it likely will not resolve them.
