Will Abit KT7 read High Density SDRAM modules?

I don't think it does

Technically, all halfway current VIA and SiS chipsets can handle 256-MBit SDRAM chips. BIOS of such a recent board should be aware of them too, so I don't see why they shouldn't work.

It does. I had that board and it read that ram without any problem.
