Will a Zalman CNPS7700-ALCu work with AM2?

Zalman's website says it only works with 939, core 2 duo, 940, 754, etc., but not AM2.

I was wondering if I took the AM2 mounting brackets from a CNPS9700 LED, would I be able to mount the 7700 on an AM2 motherboard?

Isn't the socket 939 bracket the same one used on the AM2 Socket?

I'm not completely certain, but I think AM2 is slightly different.

I don't believe that will work, NoodleTech. I have both coolers, and I see no way of connecting the 7700 using the 9700 retainers. They are radically different cooling types so the retainer is different as well. The 7700 has a two screw-type retainer, the 9700 uses a clamp-type retainer.
