Will a Win2k Pro Full CD Key work with a Win2k Upgrade Physical CD?

(I have a qualifying upgrade product, so I don't care if it asks for the previous version CD or not, I just want to know if it will let you use the CD key)

I think I tried that once, and it realized that the key wasn't for that *exact* product.

Darn.
Oh well I'm sure I can find a Win2k Full ISO w/o too much difficulty.

(I just bought a Win2K COA w/ CDKey but no physical media, I'm not trying to pirate here).

NO, MS retail products have specific generated keys for each product and OEM versions also usea different generated keys than the retail products that can be used on multiple OEM products.

Yeah I know retail CD Keys are different from OEM CD keys.
But I have a retail full version CD key (5 groups of 5 digits), and I have a retail upgrade version disc (it requires a CD Key that is 5x5) is this not going to work together?
