Will a WD Ultra ATA 100 work on this motherboard?

I recently bought a Western Digital 160gb Hard drive because of the price ($50 after rebates) which I think is an amazing deal. But I probably will be getting CHAINTECH VNF4/Ultra ATX AMD Motherboard and I'm sure whether the Western Digital drive will be compatible with the mother board since the storage devices are either ATA 133 or SATA II and the hard drive is Ultra ATA 100. Anyone know if it'll work on the motherboard? I want to get a SATA II harddrive but I can't due to my budget - maybe later on when I start upgrading. This hardrive also has enough space for what I need to do (I saw a SATA II hardrive on newegg for $50, but it is only 40gb)

yes, it will work with the motherboard. only maxtor ever sold drives badged 'ata 133,' every other company kept calling it ata 100. maxtor started calling it ata 133 when they broke the 127GB limit of the old ata 100. for some reason, even though every other company did the same, pretty much none of them called it ata 133. maybe maxtor trademarked it?

anyway, long story short, yes, it will work just fine.

There is no such standard as ATA 133 - it is simply a marketing gimmick started and promoted by Maxtor. The highest true ATA standard is ATA 100. As has been said, they are very backward compatible. No ATA drive today exceeds about 70MB/sec burst - quite a bit less continuous.
