Will a Upgrade version of the window deactivte old version of the os?

I got a question concerning window upgrade version in general. For example, right now I am using a Window xp that I bought from ft/fas forum a month back and i am interested inot buying the upgrade disk of the Vista Home Preinum version. However I read report of if I choose that route, the xp I bought will be nulled and unusable, is it true? Because I though of using Xp in one hdd and a vista on other hdd in the same pc.

Also, I notice the office max deal for 50 bunbks for a xp home upgrade. I also happening to have a legal window 98 disk from Dell around, but i lost the code for it. Do I need to buy a new set fo code to take advantage of Window xp Home upgrade deal or all the installation ask for is the window 98 disk in the cd/dvd-rom? Also, will a vista upgrade disk work on a upgrade xp home disk? because I would much rather give up a 50 dollars upgrade disk than a 130 bucks xp pro that I just bough a month ago

An upgrade is just that, if you need both OS's running, buy a full version of Vista

But how will Vista deacticate the old key if all I need to do is insert the original cd during installation, just like when 98 upgrade to xp

I answered your question from a legal point of view, you are agreeing in your license not to use the prior OS (except in a virtual machine, as it turns out). The question your asking is basically can you pirate it and be ok. That discussion isn't allowed here and if you continue will just get the thread locked.

It won't. M$ has no way of knowing if you've used an upgrade or not.
