I have searched the internet and got conflicting answers. I hoped that someone here might have a definitive answer to this question.

My situation is that I have an IBM xSeries 235 that seems to have a dead motherboard (model M57S). I got another motherboard from an IBM xSeries (model M57SR), but it's socket 604. I got the motherboards switched out and everything plugged back in, but when I plug in the power, it just blinks at me and doesn't power on.

My first thought is that the 603's won't work in the 604 board, but I'm not sure.

Thanks

Sorry if this is more suited to the MB section...

I cannot answer for your specific motherboard, but better motherboards (such as Asus PC-DL) have no problem with 603 or 604 cpus.
