I never understood this mentality. It's a team game. He's the best player in baseball (or at least top 3), whether he ever wins a World Series or not. Cal Ripken never won a world series, is he a loser?

Hell no but Cal Ripken has class...

You cant say that about A-Rod...

Yankees <--- fan

Plus that swipe against Arroyo in the playoffs was lame.

Also his imitation of Jeter during the playoffs was even lamer. When I mean imitation anyone else notice when they were on tv and Jeter applauded his teammates A-Rod would do the same.

So the issue then is not whether he's a "winner", it's if he's a jerk. Who the hell cares if he's a jerk? there are jerks in every profession. Some jerks are good at what they do.

Some people would say that Kobe is a jerk, but nobody has branded him a loser. Granted, he's not having a great season without shaq this year, but he still produces when it counts, something that can't be said for A-Rod. Hideki Matsui also hasn't won a ring yet but you don't see anyone caling him out. I think part of the reason is that he's been clutch/consistent for the Yankees. Also maybe because he's just a likeable guy.

Teams get better when Arod leaves. That's no coincidence. The same can not be said of Ripken. Ripken was a good guy. From what we've seen Arod is not. Etc. They're two completely different players.

teams get better when he leaves because he is worth a lot in a trade. is he one of the best players in the game? yes, is he worth what he is paid compared to what other baseball players are paid? no.

If he was so valuable, why did Texas try everything to get rid of him??

reading isn't your strong suite is it.

ya he is an amazing player, is he worth that kind of salary? no. i'd rather have two players with 90% his ability at 1/2 his salary.

Because they couldn't afford to pay $25 mil to one player.

Yankees Hater - I knew as soon as he came to the Yanks he would never be a decent person again in his career. And after that whole thing at first base last year, where he tried to say he didn't intentionally slap the ball out of his hand, that sealed it.

He's the MLB's version of C-Webb, except that I think C-Webb has a better shot at winning something.
