I have a Win xp home ed. OEM CD with a cd-key.

Just curious.

If I reinstall win from this cd and try to enter a cd-key that came with a retail pack version of win xp, what will happen? Will the installation program accept the retail key or will it not?

What about the opposite?
What will happen if someone tries to enther an oem cd-key when installing windows from a retail cd?

Like the above poster said, but you can change the product ID and be able to use the OEM cd key. Do a google search and you'll find it.

No, but you can change setupp.ini to turn a retail CD into an OEM one or vice versa
