Will a "raidmax", uh "450w" PS be ok?

I currently have an MSI mobo with XP2600 CPU and three sticks of DDR1 totaling 1.5GB, believe they are running at the lowest common denominator of 333MHz.

Today or tomorrow, my MSI G31/E5200/DDR2-800 should be arriving. Although I plan to order an HX520 to last as I continue upgrading, I'm hoping that my current power supply which I just looked at right now, will be OK with the new parts. I suspect it should be, but hopefully someone can offer their thoughts on that.

It does say 450w (max output). Currently there is a GeForce Ti4200 in there (fan not running), stock CPU heatsink/fan, two hard drives (8 and 80GB) and a CDRW. The system has been running for around 5 years with that power supply I believe, never ever had any problem and has often run 24/7 for extended periods of time. Has not been used all that intensively (no hardcore gaming or video rendering or ultra intense apps).

So ... Should I be OK with this power supply until I get my new one (could be a few more weeks)? Although I plan to get a new video card, probably a 4850 - I should have my new power supply before then.

Radeon 4850 will probably make that Raidmax keel over and die, if it doesn't go out with a bang. G31/E5200 with onboard graphics? Not including hard drives or anything else it probably draws around 50W if not stressed, so may be okay on a... 5 year old Raidmax?!?!

hahaaa thats awesome

i'm still undecided about my case. i was almost sure to get the cooler master 690 cause when i found out about the non-120mm fans on the thermaltake vf1000bws i figured it'd be noisy.. but all the reviews of that case said it's really quiet, so i'm seriously considering it again. argh.

Well, at least there isn't much question about the power supply, HX520 seems to be the right choice.

I have the cm 690 and for the price, it's a killer case with lots of cooling. However, if you are looking for something silent it is not the one.
