Will a PPGA hs/fan fit on a FC-PGA chip?

I have a very nice Alpha hs/fan, intended for a PPGA celeron (but I never ended up using it.)

I currently have a Slot1 P3, but I'm getting a P3-700 this week, if I can find a cb0 locally.

If I do get the FC-PGA chip, then I'll end up using a slocket... If that makes a difference.

Older model Alpha's are not too stable on the small heatslug of the FCPGA chips. But, all is not lost. You can buy a copper shim or make shim's yourself to stabilize the heatsink on the slug.

Some of that foam, thats sticky on one side (for window trim and sealing doors) works pretty good, stick it to either the heatsink, or the green of the CPU to help stabalize...

Thanks for the word, guys.

I went out and got a new Asus CUV4X mobo, and cb0 P3-700. The Alpha fits just fine on it.

But I am looking for a copper shim. Anyone know where I could find one?

If the Alpha fits, why do you need the shim? Seems like a waste of $12 plus shipping. The shim does not help transfer heat in any way. It only acts as a stabilizer if you have trouble seating the Alpha flat to the heatslug of the chip.
