will a PCI express motherboard fit into my case which i got before pciX came out?

Standards are standards - ATX motherboards fit in ATX cases so you will have no problems.

p.s it's PCIe, PCIX was a modified 64 bit parallel PCI bus.

With that little information, how do you know he isn't talking about PCI-X? 😛

Although, I'm guessing a number of motherboards with PCI-X are EATX...

That gives me a clue that he bought a PCI Express motherboard but confused the abbreviation with PCI-X 🙂

Of course it is possible that he bought his case before even PCI-X came out but as long as it is ATX it will still work fine.
