Will A P35 motherboard run the older e6600, 800mhz at 1333 FSB?

Hello, I have read review at toms hardware and other fourms that say the new P35 motherboards will run the older 800 fbs chips at 1333. Can anyone verify if this is true or not?

Has anyone done the pin mod and got and 800 fbs chips to work at 1333 on a P35? I'm wondering if I really need to upgrage my e6400 to run it at 1333 fbs, according to the reviews I don't. I just want to make sure before I buy the p35-e. Thanks.

the new P35 chipset boards should be able to run the older, slower FSB speeds in addition to the new 1333MHz speed. Of course you can overclock your chip to get those new speeds, or clock up the FSB and drop the multiplier to keep clock speeds down but still benefit (however marginally) from the higher FSB.

Currently cruising @ 1536MHz (384MHz FSB) with E4300 (800MHz chip). I've pushed my IP35-E board up to 1952MHz (stable) with E6320 CPU.

Many thanks to everyone who responded, I appreciate your input!

I guess I'm talking more about cpu and ram moving or processing data in 1333 chunks rather then in 1066 or 800 mhz chunks per cpu cycle even with the fsb running at the same 1333 if that makes any sense. Maybe it is just my ram running at faster ram speed vs FBS that makes if feel so much more responsive. I have seen reviews where they compare cpus running at 1067 to 800 and in bench marks and there is not much difference in the scores. However, when I run my cpu and ram at 1067mhz my game play seems much faster and more responsive then when I run my cpu and ram at 800mhz oc'ed to 1067 fsb. Again, comparing bench marks there is almost no difference but it just seems faster with ram & cpu in 1067 mode. Has anyone else had the same experience?

Thanks
