Yes. I spoke to Paul at EVGA regarding this and he said anything physical will void your warranty. But you can do more then you think software wise. They actaully advise you to adjust your fan speeds.
No, it won't void the warranty so long as you don't physically damage anything when installing the after market cooler and re-installing the stock cooler when sending the card back to eVGA for service.
Their warranty covers everything except for physical damage to the card.
Yes I have to second (or third ) this. The guy at EVGA with whom I spoke, even suggested an aftermarket cooler because they haven't worked out this overheating issue/lack of proper cooling on the 8800GT. I guess like any other company it just depends on who you get on the phone....
