I am wanting to upgrade my computer to get more gaming performance out of it. I am wanting to play Americas Army and Battelfield 2 on near high settings. My current rig is getting a little dated and is as follows.....Amd athlon xp 1700+, 512 mb pc2100, 120 gig 7200 rpm hard drive, santa cruz sound card, 300 watt power supply, and a Geforce 3 ti200 video card. The mother board I have has no pci express and the agp is limited to 4x. My question is: If I were to get a top of the line video card or close to top of the line, would my system even be able to utilize it, or would my main system problems be in my processor and or memory?? Could I upgrade a few things and get some good gaming performance, or should I just build a totally new system. I really don't have the money to build a new system though, so if anyone of you could give me some advice I would greatly appreciate it.

you are asking for a "near high settings" which is improbable with your system, or even you did upgrade. I suggest go for a totally new system. upgrading your current rig will just be a waste of money!

EDIT: we are the same, i also want to play BF2 and im also on a very tight budget. But seems i will be going for a 6600GT PCi-E version. but still not sure what CPU/mobo to use. from what ive read, 6600GT will be the best bang for you buck.
