My epox 8k3a seems to have died on me just from moving it into a new case,it will not post or give any codes and the cpu does not even get warm.I confirmed that the cpu is good in another system and have tried different ram and power supply. The led on the board lights up and the fan on my video card spins so it seems it has just quit giving power to the cpu socket.I have looked over every trace on the board and there appears to be no damage so im thinking that maybe a capacitor fried or something.I took static precautions so im am baffled at this point as to how it died so easily.Anyone have any suggestions or thoughts? I hope epox will RMA it seeing that the company I bought it from is no longer in business.

Some boards beep without a CPU, some don't.

Since you just moved it, my guess would be a bad connection or the motherboard shorting against the chassis somewhere. I'd remove it from the case, put it on a cardboard box, foam, whatever, only put in the video card, one stick of RAM and processor (with HSF of course). Leave the drives unplugged. Power up and see if you get any video. If that works, just start adding things one by one.

I've had this happen many times and things started working when I took it out of the case. I couldn't find it grounding anywhere to the case for the life of me so I just assumed something wasn't seating well - RAM, PCI card, whatever.

I actually already tried that tonight, had it setting on cardboard with just the vid card, ram and cpu.Still no go,I even took the fan off the heatsink to test for warmth and get nothing. Its like its just not sending power to the cpu.I really liked this board too :(
