Hi guys,

newbie here in terms of 3d cards and compatiblity. Have a XPS 730x since 2008 and after countless times of replacing the dual 9800 GT with sli cards through warranty by Dell. The main card has died again and its time to look for a replacement. Seems to be happening alot more as replaced both cards like 3 -4 times since playing SC2 and Civilizations 5.

Was wondering what you guys might have in mind in terms of a viable suitable replacement. I do want decent performance but not too expensive card and seems like the GTX550 is the way to go.

Is it compatible and if not or any other suggestions on where my money is best suited for?

Thanks!

O_O

GTX550 is horrible value... its barly faster than a 5770, and costs like 150$.
(the 5770 is around 99$ at cheapest)

Fork out the extra 10$ for a 460 and get like double the performance.

Your motherboard supports PCI-E 2.0 which is the fastest interface currently available on any motherboard and the GTX 460 and GTX 500 series cards are more power efficient than the dual 9800GT's you've been using. (I also have a pair and looking to upgrade)
