im giving my dad an old comp with old parts in it but i was considering upgrading the video card. Its a old 5750 pci-e card so its pretty bad. Hes not gonna be gaming though but im just wondering if i should install vista or XP on it.

the board is a P15 chipset with a P4 3.4GHZ chip inside. I have a gig of memory inside but im wondering if i should upgrade to 2?

NVIDIA no longer supports GeForce 5 Series under Vista. The last NVIDIA driver for Vista to support the FX 5 Series was an old BETA from 2006, while Vista was still in RC2 stage.

Get something like GF 8500GT or Radeon X1650, either of which can be found dirt cheap after rebates.

Forgot to add that 5 Series is still supported in the driver releases for Windows XP.
