Will a DVD movie cd play on a computer?

Should a dvd movie play on a computer like a music cd does? I have a movie that is on a dvd cd. I want to watch it on my computer but when I slide it into the dvd drive nothing happens. What do I need to do to get it to work?

1) Do you have "auto-play" enabled for that drive?

2) Do you have a "software" or "hardware" DVD decoder?

3) If you are using WinMe, click START > RUN > and type DVDPLAY.EXE

You will need at least 2 of the above for this to work.

Another thing: Is it a DVD-ROM drive FOR SURE? Not a CD-ROM drive?

dvdplay is in winme and win2k, so you can try it in both
