Will a Core 2 Duo processor work in a Core Duo motherboard (ie upgrade laptop processor?)

I can swing a core duo processor laptop, but was wondering if I could upgrade the processor to a core 2 duo?

I would say that depends on the specific laptop and what else might need changing. So, in some cases, yes, and in some cases no.

Often a bios upgrade is needed to support new processors, and laptop manufacturers are unlikely to release bios upgrades for old laptops, unless they themselves now offer the same model with a core 2 duo in it.

Find specific laptop.....look up specific laptops Support downloads and see if the notes for the latest BIOS says anything about support for new Intel processors.

Nothing more than a BIOS update is needed, but not all manufacturers have made such updates available for all products.
