Yes, but at least on my old Thinkpad, I had to use a converter that I got at Walmart, to transform the DC into AC, just so that the AC line could convert it back into DC.
I don't know anything about modern laptops, but the input on my laptop is 16V@2.2A, and my converter puts out a max of 75 Watts and it works very well. Unless the power requirements have increased dramatically, it should work.
I've used a laptop power inverter plugged into my cigarette lighter without any problems.
There are units available for many laptops to power and charge laptops as you work connected to vehicles' cigarette lighter outlet.
Just google for them.
Yes those sockets have plenty to use an inverter. But don't try to hook from the socket directly to the laptop without the inverter, you can blow something up that way (a friend of mine killed his laptop doing that).
I use an HP travel adapter - has connectors for automobile aux ports (formerly for cigarette lighters), and the IATA power ports on aircraft. And, my new car has a built in 110 VAC inverter plug in the cargo area. That works too.
No problem at all .. most lighter sockets in cars are fused at 10AMP
Some are 5AMP .. but either way, it will be more than your Laptop
will require, even if you need to use the Inverter to convert +12V to
AC for use with the Laptop Power Pack
