Will a card intended for mini-PCI express work in a PCI-e x1 slot in a desktop?

I am going nuts because my motherboard has no free PCI slots, and USB network adapters cause my computer to crash whenever I load something like azureus (I have tried for months to fix this problem but to no avail), so I was thinking of buying a PCI-e wireless network adapter, except that there are none... other than ones intended for mini-pci-e for notebooks. It won't work in one of my PCI-e slots will it?

If not, what other solution might I find?

No. It will not work. Different physical connection.

You need to address why it crashes with the USB adapter. Make sure your chipset drivers are up to date.
