Will a BIOS still beep error codes if the CPU is dead?

I have nothing on the motherboard except the CPU. I get no error codes from the motherboard, so I assumed it was dead. Wonder if it could be the CPU instead.

You need a working CPU to hear the beeps.

However, CPUs very rarely die; it's probably the board or something on the board. Try reseating your memory first.

EDIT: Oh, you have no memory on it. Put some memory on it, then it'll give you a beep (or two :p )

I tried all of that. I took everything off the board but the processor hoping to hear error codes. I didn't and assuming the board was dead ordered another.

No beeps with or without the RAM in. How do I know whether it is the board or CPU?

I have a new motherboard coming from Newegg, but now I am being paranoid that it may be the CPU.

Not much else you can do unless you have a spare processor hanging around. Have you verified that your system is actually powering on, and that the motherboard itself is getting power? If so, I'd just replace the motherboard and see what happens.

Yes, all the fans power up, and the ASUS logo on the motherboard lights up. I've also verified the power supply with a voltmeter.

It worked fine for four days, and then just wouldn't boot the other morning.
