I have just downloaded an update from the foxconn website which says it has AM3 CPU support. I ran all 3 files that came with the download, and they flashed up quickly and went within seconds. Does that mean it's now compatible? How will I know?

A BIOS update usually takes more than a few seconds. Reboot and see if you have the 79AF1P12 BIOS. (The P12 is what differentiates it from the other versions)
(Although I'm seeing signs that there's a P13 bios out there?)

Oh, and foxconnsupport.com isn't working for me. I can get it through a proxy but I can't pick the right motherboard.

I can't see that it's officially supported, but other Deneb cores are so there's a good chance it'll work.

Thank you.

Is there anyway I can know it'll work, before I go to install the processor to find it doesn't work?

The 965 will be a huge improvement. Btw ebuyer has it for a tiny bit more but with free shipping, which should work out cheaper for you overall.

Not unless you can find someone who's tried it.

Amazon also has it with free shipping for the same price.

So now we believe the BIOS to now have support for AM3, what graphics card around £100 or less would be a good improvement to my gaming PC? I currently have an old 4670 512MB.

My specs are as follows...

AMD Phenom X4 965 @3.4GHz
ATI Radeon 4670 512MB
500W PSU
4GB 800MHz RAM
Foxconn A7VMX-K/S motherboard

Yes, they're good. But I dont think they will be worth the 80 pounds to upgrade. Is there anything that's better than those? I can do Nvidia also, and if needed, just over the 100 mark is possible.

Yeah, £100 is just on the wrong side of the real performance spike (though the 7770 will kick that old 4670 around big time).

If you find the AMD games uninspiring and want AC3, you can also get a 650ti with the latter game free for about the same price, but it's slower.

I've decided to go completely different and buy a projector to play Xbox/PC and watch movies on a huge screen instead :) I've bought the 965 which ill be installing tomorrow, but the graphics card will have to wait I think.

If you have a 4670 and want a cheap upgrade despite spending out on a projector, get a 6670 ddr5 off ebay for 48 quid or a used 5770 for 50.
