will a amd 3200 venice be good enough for a 7800 gt ?

it will have some sort of a bottleneck. however, even at stock speeds, a 3200 will be great with a 7800gt. remember that some games rely more on cpu and others rely more on the gpu. i have read that you need a FX-55 in order to fully realize the full potential of a 7800gt or gtx, but i think thats just bs.

try to overclock to 3500 speeds or even higher and you will be extremely happy

As i have said twenty zillion times, with most games at resolutions lower than 1600x1200 or better, the 7800GT will be slightly bottlenecked by the CPU, even when OCed.

But really, it's likely better than spending the money on a CPU that wouldn't OC much higher than the 3200+ Venice anyway...

So i guess i won't say too much against it, providing you have 2 GB of RAM first 😉

I'd say it'd be fine, as long as you OC it to 3500 speeds, and have 2 GB ram. If anything, you'll be bottlenecked by system ram latency.

Only if you buy me that combo too 😉

And yes, that's good.

I'd recommend considering an X2 though, unless multitasking is something you oppose 😛

Or, if you're planning on upgradeing within 1.5 years, wait on an X2 till socket M2 comes around.
