Hi,
Does anyone know if a 9700PRO baced card will work with a Abit KT7A-RAID? Specifically a Hercules one.
For two reasons i ask really,
1)Rage3DFAQs says that it wont (i think, its not clear), check Here
2)My Local store, Overclockers UK, says that it will, check Here,

From what i can tell, from OC UK(I e-mailed them), i just need to press reset on a cold boot to get it working.

Will it work or not then?
Thanx in advance

I can't give you a direct answer but I've seen a lot of people have issues with that Abit board. That one and the Asus 8x AGP one as well.

Doesn't work on my Abit KR7A.

Doesn't work on my Abit KR7A-133R.

Doesn't work on my Abit BE6-2 Rev.2 Raid.

There maybe more. But I have not tried on every single mobos out there. you get the idea there could be more mobos that won't work with R9700pro. All these boards work flawlessly with all other video cards of mine. GeForce2 GTS, Voodoo3 2000 PCI, GeForce3 Ti200, GeForce4 Ti4200, ATI Radeon 8500, ATI Radeon 8500LE.

heh... sounds so easy. You wish it was that easy. You've got real lucky. Some people get lucky and be able to survive from cold boot by resetting the power. That's an old story. Been there done that yaddy yaddy ya.. No sir, they don't work. Give me something I don't know.. What would that be?

Well FWIW I installed the 9700Pro in my friends sytem which was basxed around the Abit KR7A-RAID and never had any problems at all.... that doesnt necessarily mean much though as I've heard of a few people that did experience issues with that mainboard + the R9700.

The KR7A isnt exactly the most widely compatible motherboard, there are a few high power draw graphics cards that are known to be incompatible with it.

Hi,
thanks for the reply/s,
But, you all seem to be thinking that im using a KR7A Mobo. Its a KT7A-RAID. True, they both use the KT133A chipset, but i was asking for the KT7A specifically. Just becuase it uses the same chipset, doesnt nessesseraly mean it`ll have the same problems. There are other KT133A chipset baced mobos out there that work fine with it.
Thanks again for the replys, but can we keep it baced around the KT7A & KT7A-RAID Mobos please.
