will a 6800gt work on this system?

the mobo is an asus a7v33 has a 4x agp slot, I was able to get a bargain on the 6800gt, it says it supports agp 4x on the box, but I dunno if it will run on this outdated pc, if worst comes to worse I'll sell it here, but Im just asking before I open the box.

Yes it'll work. 8x/4x are interchangable.

But yeah... I'd strongly recommend a cpu / mobo / ram upgrade so it doesn't bottleneck the hell out of it (as it will).

It'll work yeah. Ever think of overclocking the rest of your system to let that puppy breath though?

You will see a huge proformance gain in gaming. But really the only upgrade you can do is toss it out an buy a new one. But until then, enjoy the card. 🙂

ya, I tried overclocking my processor but either the voltage is too high or my ram won co-exist with the overclock, if I buy an extra 512mb stick will it decrease the bottleneck or is the cpu really holding back this beast of a video card.

ram wont help, you should upgrade your cpu and mobo
