Will a 512MB high-density module read as a 256MB module?

My motherboard has one So-Dimm slot that supports a max of 256MB. I have a high-density 256MB stick that reads as 128MB, so will the same pattern hold for a 512MB high-density stick?

to be absolutely clear, it's using a 32x64 arrangement to achieve a total of 16x16.

So, would a 512MB module with a 64x64 arrangement with a total of 32x16 show as a 256MB module?

Sure, the 512MB will be seen as 256MB.
