Will a 2x/4x/8x AGP card work on a mobo that's AGP 1.0 with a 1x/2x slot?

Hey guys, can anyone please tell me if an AGP card that supports 2x/4x/8x will work on a mobo with an AGP slot that's an AGP 1.0 spec and 1x/2x? I can't find voltages on the card (ATI Radeon 9250), so I guess I need to find out if it will work with 3.3v, since I think there are AGP 2x cards that are 1.5v and some that are 3.3v. (Mobo is an old FIC 2013).
Thanks.

I was not aware of an AGP 8x card that supported 2x. Normally, cards are either 1/2x, or 4x/8x with no 2/4/8x. I have never seen such a thing. Would you mind giving a link to your exact video card?

Radeon 9700/9500 supports AGP 2x/4x/8x.

compatible with AGP 2X (3.3v), 4X (1.5V), 8X (0.8v) or Universal AGP 3.0 bus configuration (2X/4X/8X).
surprised me too

I put my r9700pro into a 500Mhz P3 I think ... and it works fine.
... I had to use the floppy power cord ... even with ME drivers :D

Have no idea what MB

I had my 9700 pro in a dell p3 600 machine based off an intel bx board which is agp 1.0.

It worked fine.

Wow, Anandtech finally back up!

There is no link for it, the vendor is Norwood Micro and they have no website. The specs for it though indeed state 2x/4x/8x on the box. I don't know if the ATI retail boxed version is like this, I guess you could check the ATI website for that.

Ah, I see from the later posts now that the ATI boxed version is the same. What concerned me though, still concerns me, is that I think there are 1.5v and 3.3v 2x AGP versions. However, according to you Bunker, my guess would be that maybe an AGP 2x/4x/8x card can use BOTH 1.5v and 3.3v voltages since AGP 1.0 is 3.3v, and there are no 3.3v 8x AGP cards.

I don't know why the ATI 9250 link goes to the 9200, but here is says the 9200 series is THREE voltages (3.3, 1.5 & .8v, and 2x/4x/8x).

The 9250 chip absolutely still does support 3.3V signalling, and its low power draw will not overstress an AGP 1.0 specification slot either.

1x/2x AGP is _always_ 3.3V signalling, just like 4x/8x is always 1.5V. (".8V" is just mislabelled 1.5V low-swing signalling.)
