Question Will a 2080ti be bottlenecked with this system?

Hey just wondering how well a 4770k+Z97x mobo would do with a 2080ti? I only ask as I'm thinking of upgrading my card and would like to pass this down to a buddy currently running a gtx970 with that system.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to read.

Somewhat yes, but I think you'll see a noticable improvement.

I tried out a 1080Ti in a 3570K and there was hardly any performance increase over a 780 in a selection of games (WoW was one of them and notoriously demanding of CPU). Your 4770K has HT and double the threads though.

Thanks for the input as I said when I upgrade to the 30 series I'd rather pass this on to a friend then sell for dirt cheap to a stranger. He would probably only be using it for Cod/Minecraft.

What resolution? Higher resolutions tend to be more gpu limited for the most part. He'd probably notice improvements either way.

Will be a nice upgrade for him with that CPU. Won't get top performance but it will be much better than his 970.
