Hi,
Im upgrading my parents computer. Its an old Gateway Pentium II - 266. Im trying to be as cheap as possible. The unit only has a 200 watt power supply, will this power a celeron 533 or a Duron 650? Thanks.

I don't know about a Duron, but my 130W supply has no trouble running my .25u Celeron at 450 MHz.

Duron wants more power. If it says AMD,just get a 300watt P.S. and be done with it. You're fine for the celeron.

Quick question for you P.S. guys. If a power supply isn't enought to power a system will it lock up the system or will the system just run slower? I have a fried who just built a computer and we couldn't figure out why it would lock up all the time. He switched out his geforce with a TnT and the problems went away. He sent back the geforce for replacement, but I'm now thinking it could be the ps. He's using a 250w ps.

Normally, if you have a hard drive and a CD ROM..then 250 Watts is fine. If you add another hard drive or a CD ROM..then you'll have to go up to 300 watts.
