Will 939 mobo prices go down also?

Hey all,

I am guessing the answer to this question is "no," but maybe i am wrong.. Do you all think 939 mobos will go down in price when the 939 procs go down in price?

Thanks

It's possible, since they are going to be discontinuing the socket, it would make sense that they would discontinue the s939 MoBos... maybe minor price cuts about the time of the X2 cuts. We can only hope.

Looking to the past, chipsets seem to decline in price as they exit production, until you finally can't buy them any more. for instance, I seem to remember that happening with NF3 boards, they dropped to 70-80% of their original prices, and then after a couple of months you couldn't get them anymore. I think S939 boards will still be pretty available through the end of this year, perhaps with declining availability in the winter. But yeah, I'm waiting until I can actually get a good deal on a highend S939 motherboard. By the fall there'll probably be cheaper ones.

I just grabbed an abit kn8 ultra for that rebate deal at Newegg figuring I wouldn't get a much better deal any time soon. 75 bucks after shipping and rebate isn't too shabby. Especially for a board with all Japanese caps on it. Although I wish it had an LED on it for error messages like the an8 ultra..
