Will 802.11N MIMO help at all with Wifi congestion

I live in an apartment building and as you can imagine there is a lot of traffic in the 2.4Ghz spectrum for 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi spectrum space. I had initially thought of switching to 802.11N 5Ghz as there is nobody in that spectrum space other than one other AP but it's relatively low power. The problem is that my Nexus 7 can not use the 5Ghz frequency. So will going from my DIR-615 to a MIMO capable router help at all with interference? It's not too bad but every now and then it's annoying.
