hi

just wanted to know if Antec True Control 2 P/S http://www.frozencpu.com/products/3218/...550W_ATX12v_v20_Power_Supply_Unit.html will be enough for the following:

EVGA 768-P2-N831-AR 8800GTX R - vid card
CORSAIR TWIN2X2048-8500C5D R - ram
MB EVGA 122-CK-NF68-TR NF680I 775 - M/B
CPU INTEL|C2D E6700 2.66G 775 4M R - CPU
CPU FAN ZALMAN|CNPS9500 AT RTL

assume i will not be overclocking, well, not much, maybe jsut to run the 1066 memory at actual 1066 if need. may throw in a couple of extra fans for the summer time since i live in a pretty hot climate.

i will also be using a H?D on which i havent decided yet, probobly Seagate, and a DVD RW drive. going to try out the onboard audio and headphones, so no additional sound card unless it sounds horrible or causes some sort of drama.

so opinions on that with the P/S listed, or is tehre a betetr 1, BTW my number 1 priority is noise level. i want it to be as adequate and compatible, but as quiet as possible.

thanks.

no SLI, just a single card. i picked this board because it has all the features i am looking for and got excellent user reviews and can run at 1066 apaprently out of the box with this ram without problems.

but i wont be using 2 vid cards.

thanks

550 watts is far more then you need, a good 350-400 watt PSU would have no problems.

What you should be looking for is quality over quantity of the watts -- Antec just isn't that good compared to others in the price range.

I would suggest you take a look at the Seasonic S12/M12 (380 watts +), one of the best PSUs currently available.

Another good choice would be one of the 80+ certified Enhance units from eWIZ, here is a link to the 500 watt version (400 & 600 variants also exist). Don't be fooled by the low price, these are high-end OEM units that bypass the middle man and forgo retail packaging. I don't think you can but a better PSU for the money.
