that would be the easiest way to find out, see the max MB it supports per DIMM

No it won't.

The largest DIMM size later steppings of the BX chipset can handle is a 256MB double sided DIMM with 16 chips on it.

Like Andy said, a single stick of 512, no.
........but up to 4 sticks of 256 will work, I've got 2 sticks of Crucial Cas2-256MB in mine, and no problems.
I brought the BX6 out of retirement, because my Epox 8KHA+ died, and she still runs like a champ, smooth and stable!
