Will 5.1 work with my setup ?

What's going on guys?

Quick question --

I have an Aiwa AV800 stereo system. It's about 3 years old, and it's built-in receiver has support for Dolby Pro Logic. It has 2 front speakers, a center channel, 2 surround and a sub. If I plugged this into an SB Live 5.1 would it be able to work in 5.1? I'm hoping to watch some DVDs without buying a stand-alone player and getting a new amp...
I'm not sure how these sound cards work... would this work or do I need an external decoder?

Thanks 😉

If the Aiwa only supports Dolby Pro Logic, it will not work as 5.1 unless the it has 6 analog inputs for the 5.1 channels. But DVDs always have a stereo or a Dolby Pro Logic soundtrack in addition to the Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack.
