Will 32-bit pci cards work in 64-bit pci slots?

i want to buy a raid card to stick in my 64-bit pci slot. i can't find any 64bit cards and figure that 32bit cards are prob much more affordable for me. But i am very unsure if the 32bit cards will work (or even fit) in the 64bit slots.

Read something a while ago on some site that was testing a Promise SX4000 or SX6000 claimed to be compatable with both 32 and 64 PCI slots and produced better numbers on the 64 bit slot. Promise controllers are inexpensive compared to Adaptec ( which I use ) will check my manual see if it says anything about being compatable with both.

There are tons of 64-bit SCSI cards, so you must mean IDE, is that correct? I see a 3Ware Escalade 7500-8 eight-channel 64/66 card at Hypermicro for starters. Ahh, and newegg has it too. Sure is ugly... 😛

For standard 32bit 33MHz cards, they all will work in 64bit 33MHz slots, almost none of them will work in 64bit 66MHz slots.
