Will a 300watt power supply (in a antec 1030) be enough to operate a
1.333 athalon
epox+ddr mobo
256 ddr
DVD
Cdr-rw
64mb ati radeon
x-gamer 5.1
60 gig IBM

Will it be enough or should I go 400watts, and drop my hard drive down to 40 gig

And yes I will be using this comp for gaming!!!

It is enough but may get a bit strained if you want to O/clock, add a GeForce 3 or extra drives/fans etc. Antec power supplies are among the best and perform well. Often people will advise going with a 340W+ PSu- this is because it is a relatively inexpensive upgrade that removes a lot of the worry in building up a more power hungry system.

In your situation if i had to make the absolute choice- i would prefer the extra 20 Gigs

I guess your right I may as well go for the Antec 1040, its between 20-30 more
i could cut back on the hd to 40
and when that one gets 50% filled or so go get another one and raid it!!

I don't know much about Raid, but I think I'll want to get into it later

If you can afford anything higher than 300 that more power to ya, literally. But this is what I am running and all on 1 generic 300Watt AMD aproved powersupply.

1 Thunderbird 1Ghz at 1.1Ghz, 512Meg PC133 RAM,2 30 GIG IBM 75GXP, 1 MAXTOR 30 GIG, 1 Plextor 40x SCSI, 1 Plextor 8/20 SCSI, 1 Toshiba DVD 12x SCSI, Geforce2 GTS 32meg, Sound Blaster Live, Adaptec 2940UW SCSI card, Intel 10/100 nic card, Diamond 115200 shotgun modem., hard drive cooler, extra rear case fan, extra front case fan, 2 Sidewinder joypads, and a HOTROD SE arcade stick. All running from the 300Watt Powersupply. =) No problems.

Thanks,
