My dog chewed up my ac adapter for my elliptical machine. It is 6v dc and 1000 mA. I got a universal adapter from Wal-Mart that has variable voltage selection. I can set it from 3v to 12v. It has a 6v setting so I am ok there. The power is for the back-light lcd display. The new adapter is rated for 1300 mA. Will this adapter put out 1300 mA at all voltages? Will I fry my display with the extra 300 mA or will it self adjust to the required 1000 mA. Thanks for any help.

the device only uses the current it needs, you'll be fine as long as you leave it at 6 volts.

Electricity fail.

Current is drawn. It's voltage you need to worry about.
