Will 120hz be better for FPS gaming?

Now that Samsung (2493HM) and BenQ (Q2400W) both don't sell there better gaming monitors, I'm searching for a something. I own a 2493HM which I love, I just bought a refurb Q2400W hoping for the best and got a nice big yellow stuck pixel.

I see allot of talk about the 120hz, from a serious gamers point of view, is that going to be better then the above mentioned 24" panels? I mainly play FPS, so response and input lag is very important.

Thanks for any feedback.

22" TN panels are the fastest LCDs. You have to put up with some extra lag if you use a 24" or larger screen. 120Hz will be better than 60Hz, but it isn't really a deal breaker. I play a couple shooters competitively with just a 60Hz screen and do just fine.

If you're a super competitive gamer that requires every advantage, you'll get a CRT. I doubt that you will notice anything on a modern 24" TN panel.

I wouldn't say super, but I can easily tell the difference between a bad gaming TN and the two TN's mentioned above. I'm hoping to find a current 24" lcd that is just as good or better. The orange screen of the Acer G24 is just to much, I can't have that thing in my office. :)

From reading various reviews around the web on 120hz monitors, there is indeed a notable visual difference in gaming especially in fast paced FPS games. Checkout the Xbitlabs review that is a good one.
