Will 1155 boards come down in price anytime soon?

I feel I should be able to pay less than $100 for an ATX motherboard of a decent brand with 6 SATA ports, I can only order from Newegg, no MIR.

Will I have to wait long for it? 🙁

Do any of the H61 or H67 boards have 6 SATA? Almost all of them are under $100.

Or do you have other requirements like Z68, SLI support, ...?

no idea about newegg prices (non-US person), but then not idea what you consider a decent brand either. From the local shops I have (and using aprox $100US), then contenders at my end are

note: if searching for 6 sata, then remember most search features do not count 4x sata 2 and 2x sata 3 as a total of 6 sata ports.

Intel DH61BE

Gigabyte GA-HA65M-D2H-B3

I see a large number of ATX boards with 1155 sockets, and 6 SATA ports, from MSI, Biostar and Asrock. My guess would be those don't qualify as "decent brands."

In which case, you can move to mATX and get boards by ASUS or Intel. Or spend 110-115 and get a full ATX from Gigabyte or ASUS.

As for exactly what you want ... that may not happen at all.

Perhaps if BD is price/performance competitive with the low end SB we might see a drop in low end socket 1155 platforms.

It ain't decent unless its an Asus ROG.

Yes, this holiday season when socket 2011 comes out (paper release or not) socket 1366, 1156,1155.... will all drop in price

I feel that I should be able to pay less than $20k for a brand new BMW M3, but so far I've been outta luck. :\

ASRock and MSI are not bad companies!

Biostar is though

LOL funny. My buddy just had to rma a msi h61 board and now is up and running perfectly on a biostar. I have used biostar on my last 5 builds without one single issue. Asus quality has slipped lately too according to many. I say they are all about the same these days, and it's luck of the draw. Many times the extra money some of these boards cost seems to me to go into fancy colored heatsinks and "gamer series" branding. Caveat emptor...

I would be much more impressed by something like a $70 E5200 + $50 G41 mobo running @ 4GHz than some guy flaunting their $300+ mobo. The latter only shows how clueless that guy is with his money.

There are a large number of ATX board out that are using the H61 and H67 chipset that are all under $100. It is possible to even find some low end P67 and Z68 boards that are under $100. Now if you are talking about a higher quality boards I don't see them reaching down into the sub $100 market. Japan is still trying to get product back on their transistors from the earthquake; this shortage is still real and still out there.

I'm afraid alot of people equate quality with features or price. The truth of the matter is, motherboard A could cost 100 dollars, and motherboard B could cost 300 dollars, because it has tons of sata ports, more cooling sinks, fancy colors, more video slots etc etc. None of these things actually mean the board was built using higher quality capacitors, solder, traces, quality control etc etc. It might be and it might not be. I say it's about all the same. Everything now is made in china, (designed in tapei) haha

Soon is already now for me 🙂
Got a GB GA-Z68XP-UD3 for less than $90 (after $20 MIR) from MicroCenter on 8/31 special bundle sale with a 2500k cpu. (The total combo price was $270.)
