Wikipedia's List of City Nicknames

I thought these were going to be nicknames the locals gave. like anacrime for anaheim or garbage grove fro garden grove.

i live in CA, btw

I tried to add Murder Capital of the World to Gary, Indiana but I broke the references so I had to undo it. 🙁

WHo the hell calls SF "The City by the Bay?" It's THE CITY. Palo Alto is also known as Paly (derived from what they call the high school)

Davis is also known as Cow Town. Those who don't believe it just drive to UC Davis. It smells like crap. Even when you're in downtown Davis you smell the cows.

Sac is also Sac-Town.

Oh boy. They got the nickname for Naperville, IL from a pamphlet advertising an anti-G8 protest that was going to be held there. Yeah, that's authoritative.

Heh, exactly what I was thinking.

I mean, why not add "Hymietown" for New York, it's been documented.

Cedar Bluff - Crappie Capital of the World.
speaks for itself

Tuskegee - The Pride of the Swift-Growing South.
what kind of commerce department crap is that?

Detroit - The Paris of the Midwest.

St. Louis Park - St. Jewish Park (as per former resident Al Franken, for example)
way to go, wikipedia. you are pathetic

there are at least 10 "cities with a future"

I live next to Granite Falls, WA and Meth City is actually what everyone calls it, pretty sad.
Bellingham's fits it pretty well too, City of Subdued Excitement.
Then you got some lame ones like Redmond is Nerdburg and Seattle is Coffee City.

And WTF Seattle is "America's Wet Dream" the f*ck came up with that one?

Well, I work in Placerville, Ca. It's name is "hangtown". Apparently, this was one of the last towns in Ca to stop the practice of public hangings.

How about a link n00b?

😱 Sorry...was distracted by some b00bs.

Even more appropriate, now: How about a link n00b?

😉

How 'bout this: I was watching Reaper, and the villain was some hot demon-babe. Checked her IMDb profile, which doesn't really do her justice. So I google image searched her ,Julia Anderson (safe-filter OFF, of course), and dayum!:Q More than a bit distracting. 😀

Living in California I can vouch for a number of them. Though "El Doh" for El Dorado hills refers to the entire county of which that city tries to consider itself seperate from (place is filled with a bunch of yuppies). I don't know why Compton needs a citation for "The Hood" since it's pretty much universally know, same with LBC. Rancho Cordova should be on there with "Rancho Cambodia". (though lately there's more Russians than asians)
