You want highly enriched Uranium. Plutonium weapons will require an initiator that makes things much more complicated.

I heard a story of a kid who gathered up a whole bunch of smoke detectors, took out the Americium pieces, and made some plutonium. It wasn't much, but it was enough to warrant a visit 🙂

This and the fact that anyone can write anything about anything on that site and have people take it as fact are the two problems I have with it.

Well, it is audited. It's pretty amazing that despit all the power idiots have in messing it up, for the most part it works.
