I'm certain intelligence is much less abstract than we would love to believe it is.
You have to use an abstract test in order to guage intelligence. That's why you'll often see pattern tests in IQ tests. They require zero education so they are universal. However, most of these tests are timed. Even if you can figure out a pattern, they don't care if you don't do it quickly. Albert Einstein would likely fail these tests because he was a slow thinker.
