Wii Wont Read Disc

I bought a broken Wii at a rummage sale for cheap.
Everything seems to work except for the optical drive.
When a game disc is inserted it doesn't spin.
From a brief google search I see it is likely an issue with one of 3 parts in the DVD drive.
The laser, the laser worm drive motor, or the drive spindle motor.

The easiest thing to do would be replace the entire DVD drive, but at $25ish dollars I don't think it would be worth it.
However I can buy the individual parts for around $5 or so each.
My question is how do I determine which of the parts are bad?

thanks

I see working Wiis on ebay and craigslist in the $50 range.
$7.50 is what I paid for it and it didn't come with a controller so if I replaced the DVD drive (about $25 ) and bought a controller set (about $14) that's $46.50..not really worth it.
I bought it because I like to tinker and figured I'd try and fix it to resell.
Oh well I'll probably put it on Craigslist and sell it as is.

thanks all
