After how many years of awful 3D Sonic games are you going to keep hoping they will release a good one? Sonic Adventure was the last good Sonic game. =(

You didn't like Sonic Generations?

Personally, I don't care for most of those 3D Sonic games anyway. I died way too many times in Sonic Generations because the stupid homing lock would disappear right before I pressed the dash button. :| I also need to get around to playing Sonic Colors sometime as I've heard a lot of good things about it!

Pretty much every Sonic game after Sonic Adventure was not good. I guess Sonic the Hedgehog 4 was okay, but it was way too easy. Sonic Generation was okay, but not great.

I can see some merit to what Nintendo is doing, and I tend to agree with you WRT Nintendo as a consumer so I am definitely not a fanboy.

If they think they are in a position to be competitive at the show, they will AT LEAST have to share the spotlight.. We have all seen E3 coverage before, it reads like a list.

Sony is doing blablabla
MS is doing blablabla
Nintendo is doing blablabla

At worst, they will compare unfavorably to the "Big 2", at best they will be lost in the noise anyway.

By NOT showing up, it creates exclusivity for the "pre-shows".. Media will want to be there vs thinking "eh, ill just wait for the main show". Nintendo also owns the spotlight so to speak, and any coverage will be focused on their platform (double edge sword admittedly)

They also get people's first look before everyone is saturated from news of the show.

Granted, the comparisons will be made anyway but when you are in Nintendo's Marketing position what else are you going to do ?

1) They ARE SHOWING UP!!! YES THEY WILL BE THERE. I'm typing in caps because you obviously cannot read!
2) The press WILL be at their booth event playing the games. It's booked already, scheduled, and all the usuals will be there (ign, game informer, shack news etc etc etc).
3) Before Sony and Microsoft even enter the building Nintendo will have already done their presentation to the distributors and retailers and the press including all their games in playable form. There is no need to talk hardware, that was last year. The hardware is almost a year old already at retail. There is zero need to talk about it. We know all about it already. So what this means is the first impression the press and retailers have at E3 is of Nintendo's new games.

After how many years of awful 3D Sonic games are you going to keep hoping they will release a good one? Sonic Adventure was the last good Sonic game. =(

Nintendo is publishing which means Myamoto will have a hand in it for sure. Quality will be there. Imagine playing Sonic Adventure that is on par with Super Mario Galax, it's possible.

You have clearly never heard of Metaknight. And go check the tier list.

It is rather enjoyable watching Smash players get upset. I can't wait for EVO when they get to complain afterwards how mean everyone was and how they all talked smack!

Nintendo confirmed that the games will be playable at E3 and that they will be releasing the demos at Best Buys across the country so that people can play them during the show. If they were smart they would release the downloads on their eshop for everyone to try at home.

I'm unconcerned about third party games, I play those on my PC. Likely grabbing a PS4 later this year.

Yeah the Smash community raised the most money in that fund raiser for breast cancer to get the final spot in EVO. But, that was only because Fighting is Magic got a C&D I'm sure.

The 8GB version unofficially dropped by $60 at Target. Not a good sign.
I still can't believe that the Wii U setup at my local target HAS NO FKING PLAYABLE GAMES. Other than when it first came out I've never seen anybody at it. It has that stupid video disc without anything playable. Boring as hell, I'm not watching that and neither is anybody else.

I see on target.com now, though, you're right: $240 for the 8 GB. That is a pretty damn severe price drop this soon out of the gate. Xbox 360 went a year and a half before dropping at all: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360#Retail_configurations

If Nintendo can make money at this price, it may actually be a good sign for them. Shows they know their place is sloppy seconds and they are ok with that, so while the big boys come out this year with high price tags Nintendo can slop around in the mud at the significantly lower price and attract lower end consumers.

The only time I've ever been able to play a Wii U demo was at Best Buy around Christmas, any other time or place, the unit is endlessly looping videos. Oy, that's what YouTube is for!

Me thinks once he dies they will go the same route Apple has. He is really the only thing making them relevant anymore.

Link kicks that bitch Cloud's ass too:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-o2SV6ynJYQ

lol The ff7 fan boys must be losing it, since there was a huge rivalry back then where FF7 sold more copys, and Zelda won more awards, not to mention someone made a card wars showing cloud beating link, so now that theres this video, I'm sure Miyamoto seen it and is like...

So, the Sonic: Lost World trailer debuted today, and the trailer looked interesting. However, when I was reading IGN, I came across this little tidbit:

http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/05/28/sonic-lost-world-taking-a-page-from-mario-galaxy
The result is now that, by default, Sonic doesn’t burst off with a tilt of the analog stick. He walks – until you use one of the GamePad’s triggers to engage his running speed. This too is actually not full speed. Holding down the second trigger will pull Sonic into a ball, giving him access to his full momentum, which Iizuka likened to the ‘Boost speed’ from previous titles.

Why in the world would Sonic the Hedgehog want to walk? That's way past uncool~

If I remember correctly, they went with this movement system to assist with the controls in the transition to 3d.

To be fair, most of my SEGA experience was with the Genesis and Game Gear, so I've mostly experienced the 2D sonic games... and Sonic "3D" Blast. :p Because of that, Sonic has always been about speed! I tried Sonic Adventure once, but I really didn't like it... mostly because I kept falling off the stage because the locking mechanic wasn't... locking. :( Anyway, Sonic Generations didn't have a walk feature.
