I got RB1 for Christmas, and love it. The wife got RB2 for cheap at Circuit City last week, and like it too. But there is a problem.

My RB1 guitar seems to work fine with RB2, except that it is almost impossible to go into overdrive mode. I point the guitar straight up, shake it, curse a lot, shake it some more, and finally, if I'm lucky, I'll go into overdrive 30-40 seconds after I began the whole process.

I kind of thought that maybe the guitar was going bad, but no - it works fine in RB1. Anybody have any suggestions or a fix?

That's weird, I have a RB1 guitar that has that problem too but it always had that prob in both games. It's probably just faulty and the return process is relatively painless. Go on to their website and find how to get an RMA going and return it.

I have the same problem with RB on all versions I've played.

GH has never given me that issue. I've taken to just pressing the select button to activate it.

Most times in RB it will deploy on its own for no fucking reason when I don't need it and never deploy when I actually need it.

I'm going to call them and see what they'll do. I just swapped my original guitar ~3 weeks ago because of a bad whammy bar. Hopefully I can do yet another swap.

One of mine gives some difficulty to deploy. I sometimes prefer hitting select anyways.

Yeah, that really pisses me off especially if I am trying to gold-star a song and am saving up my overdrive power. The GH guitars never had that problem but I hate the clakity-clak noise it makes. I ended up getting the Fender Bass Replica and use it for all my guitar games. No whammy but at least its reliable.

What's strange is that its not just the guitar for me but the game itself. I have a wireless LP for the 360 from GH3 that I use in all the GH games and in RB1/2 it fucks up, it works fine in GH though. I've figured out the sweet spots but deploying it almost always fucks up my timing. It's annoying.
