so...
i'm thinking i want either guitar hero 3, rock band, or mario kart wii...and was wondering if you guys had any suggestions/complaints about these games in particular...

thanks!

I've only played Mario Kart Wii, but I've been enjoying it. I've never really been into any of the Kart games since the original SNES version, but MKWii is a lot of fun. Online was a surprisingly fun experience as well. I've only played a few games, but I thought for sure I would be obliterated by Japanese teenagers. Instead, I managed to hold my own.

My only complaint is that the single player can get ridiculous. Even on 50cc, the easiest mode, I am constantly blasted with red and blue shells, lightning bolts, POW blocks, etc. This doesn't usually prevent me from finishing first, it's just annoying. However, as I've played more and mastered the controls (relearning how to drift boost, discovering the boosts gained from performing midair tricks, etc.) I've been enjoying it more and have not been annoyed by the CPU as much.

There are a lot of tracks (although half of them are ported from previous versions), and different game modes.

I haven't logged much time with it, as I just got it a couple weeks ago, but I give it a

EDIT: Oh, a couple of other complaints (related): No multiplayer Grand Prix mode. What's the deal with that? And I guess it kind of sucks that only one "Mii" can be logged in at a time.

MK is the cheapest option assuming you've got 4 wiimotes. GH3 will cost you about 150 for 2 player play (game + 2 guitars). RB hasn't been released yet. That said I've had more fun with GH3 than MK but I've only played MK single player (50cc the first 4 cups).

Rock Band owns GH3's ass, even without DLC (neither one has DLC so what's the difference?). If you're going to get a rhythm game, wait for it to come out instead of getting GH3 now. You won't regret it.

Another thing is that to make up for the lack of DLC, Harmonix will be shipping song expansion discs. Unfortunately you don't get to choose your favorite songs, but you do at least have some limited expandability options. You're not stuck with the library that ships with the game.

Mario Kart's pretty fun with lots of people too. Don't pay too much attention to the haters. Yes, there are flaws, but it's still good. People always complain about Mario Kart. It really just depends on whether your friends like Mario Kart or not. But I'd say, if they do, get MK now and then start saving up for RB when it comes out.

This is true.
